Mithunda, the dancing star of the yesteryears is the one who introduced Disco dance in India.
While the three Masters of Dance India Dance are experts in a particular genre of dancing (Remo – Master of Hip Hop, Geeta – Master of Indian Classical and Terrence – Master of Contemporary), Mithun Chakraborty plays the role of the 'GrandMaster' on the show. His presence on the dance reality show is like that of a Godfather!
Mithun won the National Film Award for best actor in his debut film Mrigaya. His films Disco Dancer and Dance Dance established him as a talented dancer. Mithunda has struggled hard to reach where he is today. And now, he wants to give a platform to the young dancing talent of the country through Dance India Dance (DID).
Mithun Chakraborty believes that DID will transform a dancer into a Dancing Star. He has great respect for talent and empathizes with the contestants as he understands that they are under tremendous pressure. His rags to riches story is be an inspiration for the contestants and a testimony that hard work helps one attain success.
Mithunda is also a representative of the audience and demands high quality performances as the audience deserves to see spectacular dances. He judges the competition straight from the heart (just like the audience does). Initially, he judges the contestants on behalf of the audience and at a certain stage during the show he entirely hands over the judgment to the audience. However, he continues to be a Godfather to the contestants.
